Thirtysomething Bendix Freutel has no wife and no job in real life, but he has created a full and fulfilling life through his avatar on Second Life, a virtual, 3-D world on the Internet. Within its realm, a lonely, secluded man incapable of forming relationships turns into a gregarious young man in touch with 200 friends. In this cyber world, he changes his nose, gets rid of his potbelly and receding hair, while maintaining a stable marriage.
