The elder daughter of the Kennedy clan and sister of former president John F. Kennedy, Rosemary was a prodigy child. This did not prevent her father, Joseph, to subject her to a lobotomy when she began to suffer from mental disorders as a teenager. By portraying Rosemary's painful destruction, the filmmaker exposes the limits of this brutal psych technique, which was the preferred method to treat mental diseases in the USA between 1930 and 1960.
