In 1990, Richard Minnich, director Rick Minnich's father, lost his memory in a seemingly minor car accident. After the fact, he no longer recognized his wife and children, and began to experience difficulties to perform even the simplest of tasks. Since then, despite the extensive batteries of medical tests, none of the physicians working on Minnich's case has been able to diagnose the cause of the problem as there is no evidence of brain damage. Years later, Rick decided to reinvestigate the incident that shook his entire family by interviewing his mother, brothers and sisters, the father's second wife, and former friends. On filming these conversations, the director stirs up pent-up emotions in everyone involved and throws a new light onto the father's behavior. Was he really affected by a health condition or was he only trying to escape a life he could no longer bear?
