Auctioned during the military rule in Brazil, the farming land of Corumbiara, southern Rondônia State, in 1985 became the site of a mass slaughter of Indians who lived isolated in that part of the Amazon. Despite visible signs of attempt to erase traces of the crime, which were shot by doc maker Vincent Carelli, and denouncements by the Brazilian indigenist Marcelo Santos, the case fell into oblivion. Ten years on, two Indians, strangers to each other, met at an Amazonian farm and their meeting came as an opportunity for Santos and Carelli to retrace the tortuous trail of this story, which contains many gaps and yet reveals unequivocal signs of the crimes perpetrated against indigenous peoples, in a savage process of land appropriation in the Amazon. Shot over a period of 20 years, this documentary is also a self-critical examination of indigenist policies, besides giving voice to the Indians' concerns.
