Enjoying exclusive access to the backstage of the controversial government of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, this documentary provides an in-depth look into one of his most cherished populist methods - encouraging the population to write him letters about their problems. The ordinary people who attend his rallies are led to believe that the president himself reads all the incoming letters. Actually they are forwarded to a team of students belonging to a paramilitary group stationed at the presidential palace whose mission is to answer the letters. By selling the illusion of direct democracy, a deceptive mechanism is created whereby no real replies are given to people's complaints and the lack of an authentic democracy and freedom of expression is thus made evident.
