During the 1970's, US soul singer Billy Paul hit the top of the charts with a compelling balad about infidelity, "Me & Mrs. Jones". Bolstered by his success, Billy released shortly after a politically engaged and angry single, "Am I Black Enough for You" that annoyed white audiences and nearly cost him his own career. This biopic about the Philadelphia-born singer, who in real life has been happily married to his wife Blanche, reveals much about a time when making a political statement condemning the historical discrimination against blacks in America was more important than being the No. 1 artist.
