For 20 years, Czech filmmaker Helena Třeštíková traced the life of René Plasil who became a habitual criminal at 17. During the last two decades, René was in and out of prison while his country, the Czech Republic, and the rest of the world were undergoing major changes. The Velvet Revolution, presidential elections, the integration of that former communist nation into the EU, and the 9/11 attacks, none of these seem to have changed his status as an outcast, and he ends up robbing even the director.
