Adelina Gomes, a poor young woman, daughter of peasants, having finished elementary school and with some small manual training, timid and submissive to her mother, and never having dated by the time she was 18. Then, she falls in love with a man who her mother does not accept. So, Adelina bowed her head and, little by little, withdrew, until one day she strangled the cat she liked a lot. By killing the cat, Adelina denied herself as a woman, taking refuge in highly aggressive madness.
"Images of unconscious deals with three life stories, three clinical cases. I looked for a filmic language that would allow a narration of the films, based on the works painted by the artists. Through a selection process, the works - that express the inner world of the artists - reveal the ins and outs of consciousness and its undermining. When people undermine themselves, they express, in their painting, the ghosts that are inside them. Once they are undermined, they allow self-healing forces to manifest themselves." Leon Hirszman
