In Argentina, the economic crisis of the 90’s caused a soaring increase in the number of unemployed people who became garbage pickers. Some estimates affirm there are around 40 thousand people in Buenos Aires who make their living out of garbage, placing traditional garbage pickers, whose families have done that for generations, side by side with a woman who has a master’s degree in literature.
