“Progress and civilization are not the same thing”, points out Mário Quintana (1906-1994) in this film which rebuilds fragments of his extensive poetical works with images of the poet and scenes of his beloved Porto Alegre, a city where he was deeply integrated in the daily scene. On the streets, alleys, bars and even at the building tops, Quintana’s poetry becomes alive in the voice of several characters.
