New Orleans resident Herman Leonard, a 83-year-old photographer, documented, with his camera, the history of jazz. His lens captured myths like Charlie Parker, Billie Holliday and Duke Ellington. When hurricane Katrina ravaged the city in August 2005, he was saved. Many of his photographs were not that lucky.
