In the 60’s, on lake Victoria, Tanzania, a new fish species was introduced, the “Nile Perch”. It killed all other species in the lake. It also became the heart of the local fishing economy. Today the country exports dozens of tons of the fish to Europe. The persisting poverty,
even in the surroundings of the lake, questions the effectiveness of such progress.
