Shot dead in the building where she lived in Moscow on October 7, 2006, Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya was a stone in Vladimir Putin's government shoes. For years, she had fiercely opposed the government's policies in Chechen, speaking out against the plight of the civil population and the abuse of power by Russian authorities during the Chechen war. Politkovskaya's involvement in the issue enabled her to mediate two separate events. The first, in 2002, in the Dubrovka Theater siege, and the second, in 2004, at the Beslan school massacre. Soon after this, she was felled by a mysterious case of poisoning after drinking tea on an airline flight. The film revisits the people and the places that were part of her personal war.
