Truths and lies have always surrounded the life of Colombian artist Pedro Manrique Figueroa. Born in 1934 and regarded as the forerunner of collage in Colombia, Figueroa's first works were plastered on advertising boards in streetcars. Later, he experimented with collage on saint figures, which he sold to survive and were destroyed by religious fanatics. Figueiroa then worked as a personal assistant to a businessman and progressed culturally. He took part in vanguard manifestations at the famous Automático Café. Later, he became engaged in left-wing political activity and traveled to the former East Germany and USSR. A controversial and outsider artist, Figueiroa disappeared from public view in 1981, leaving behind him the question: did he really exist?
