The story of Clarita is told in two separate parts. First, over a six-year period in which she was filmed by her daughter, the director of the film, who followed the progression of her Alzheimer's disease. Next, actress Laura Cardoso plays Clarita, dotting the narrative with reflections and musings on the meaning of life and the experience of death.
