Using only piano music in the background and no narration, Ingmar Bergman explores his family photos with an intimate close-up of faces, expressions and gestures of his father, mother, uncles, aunts, cousins, and himself as child. He pays particular attention to the portraits of his mother Karin, a key figure in his life and an inspirer of the stories presented in his films.
