The figure of the American beat generation writer William S. Burroughs (1914-1997) gains new nuances in this documentary. Using previously unpublished footage, the film follows Burroughs' visit to Denmank in October 1983, besides footage shot during the last years of his life at Lawrence, Kansas. The author of "Naked Lunch" spent nearly one third of his life living outside the USA and returned to New York in 1974. From then on, Burroughs began a new phase when he developed a special talent as a solo performer in much sought-after readings of his own work across the US, which gave him cult status.
