A UN official for 34 years, the late Brazilian diplomat Sérgio Vieira de Mello compiled a respectable record of services dedicated to peace in Lebanon, East Timor and former Yugoslavia. In August 2003, he was killed by a suicide bomb car in his office in Baghdad. Five years later, questions are still being raised as to the true masterminds behind this bombing.
