Emerging from the post punk movement in Manchester, and drawing from the Sex Pistols rebellion, the British band Joy Division secured its territory within a context of rivalry with many other post-punk bands of the time. The three surviving members of the group, Bernard Sumner, Stephen Morris and Peter Hook, among other people, trace details of the band's career, which was radically changed by the suicide of the lead vocal Ian Curtis at 23 in 1980.
