A team of journalists from RTÉ, Ireland's National Television and Radio Broadcaster, was in Venezuela to shoot a documentary film on Hugo Chávez, when they were taken by surprise, along with the president himself, by a coup d'état on April 11, 2002, which toppled him briefly. The journalists quickly changed the focus of their story and filmed events in the heat of the moment. They gathered video footage that would later contradict the versions told by Chávez's opponents, such as the local private media, the US Department of State and the then White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer. The footage exposes a behind-the-scene conspiracy that gathered various anti-Chávez factions within Venezuela and the US, to whom the Venezuelan president is the biggest stone in the shoe since Fidel Castro.
