 Jango Silvio Tendler Brasil/RJ, 117 min, cor, 35mm, 1984 O filme retrata a vida política brasileira dos anos 60, tendo como fio condutor a biografia do presidente João Goulart. Sua ascensão e queda, até a morte no exílio, é reconstituída a partir de material de arquivo e entrevistas com Ministro Afonso Arinos de Melo Franco, Raul Ryff, General Antonio Carlos Muricy, Leonel Brizola, Celso Furtado, Frei Betto, entre outros. The movie portrays the political life of Brazil in the '60s, guided by the biography of President João Goulart. His rise and fall, till his death in exile, is reconstructed, based on archive material and interviews with Minister Afonso Arinos de Melo Franco, Raul Ryff, General Antonio Carlos Muricy, Leonel Brizola, Celso Furtado, Frei Betto, and others. Desde o início eu sabia que ia fazer um filme simpático ao Goulart, tanto que não tive o menor problema em procurar documentos com sua família. Olha, houve um momento durante a feitura do filme que a idéia do Maurício Dias, o autor do texto, era cobrar a incompetência da esquerda. Eu disse francamente para ele que ele era livre para abandonar o filme "porque eu não estava a fim de dar um pau na esquerda". A esquerda leva pau há 20 anos. From the beginning, I was sure that I would make a favourable movie about Goulart, that I had no problem whatever getting documents from his family. Now, there was a time during the filming that the author of the script, Murício Dias, had the idea that we should point out the incompetence of the left.
