When filmmakers Violeta Ayala and Dan Fallshaw try to make a film about a reunion organized by the UN of families of refugees broken up by war in the Western Sahara (disputed over three decades by Morocco and the Polisario Front), they suddenly find themselves in the middle of a whirlwind. After reports from black Saharawis prove the persistence of slave relations between them and the Arabs, in the 21st Century and under the watch of the UN, the directors take enormous risks. In this terrain mined by the vicious clash of many different interests, they must resort to a preposterous scheme not just to save their rolls of film, but their own lives.
