Becoming a partner of “It’s All True” is, for the
BNDES, a way of reaffirming its commitment to cinema
and - even more specifically - to consolidate
its support of a genre of growing importance in
the Brazilian and international film panorama: the
documentary.
This partnership takes place at a special moment
as the Bank has increased its sponsorship of nonfiction
productions, selecting eight projects in this
genre in its last grant program.
But our commitment to Brazilian cinema is longstanding.
Since 1995, BNDES has sponsored festivals
and financed the sector’s entire production
process, stimulating film production, distribution,
commercialization, and exhibition.
We believe the Brazilian film industry has great potential
for growth and that it can have a positive
impact on jobs and revenue as much as the sociocultural
development of our people.
And “It’s All True” significantly contributes to the
fulfillment of these objectives. Because in addition
to stimulating the market to produce new documentaries,
the Festival promotes - with free screenings
- the democratization of access to culture and
forming audiences for a film genre that privileges
reflection on the complexity of the time in which we
live and the challenges to be confronted in building
the future.
