Establishing qualified partnerships aligned with
the objectives of CPFL Energia’s cultural program
is a strategic orientation that once again materializes
with another edition of It’s All True - International
Documentary Film Festival. For the fifth
consecutive year, we sponsor the festival and continue
to offer the best national award to stimulate
documentary cinema: the CPFL-ENERGIA/IT’S
ALL TRUE AWARD “A Window to Contemporary
Documentary” for Brazilian medium or feature
length films. Supporting the festival over the years
has allowed us to solidify the understanding that
documentaries are a privileged language to address
the complexity of the world and contemporary
life - not by chance, this is the nucleus of our
actions in the area of arts and culture. At CPFL Cultura,
a broad cultural program that was developed
in 2003, we strive to develop a critical vision of reality,
anticipating problems and addressing with
excellence the challenges of our times.
Since the beginning of our existence, we have
tried to not restrict ourselves only to event production,
always searching for more qualified forms of
content diffusion and enlarging access to our programs.
Clear examples of this orientation are our
two weekly programs on TV Cultura, Café Filosófico
(Philosophical Café) and Invenção do Contemporâneo
(Invention of the Contemporary), making videos
and other audiovisual content available on their
own websites, and (more recently ) creating a series
of documentaries. In 2009, we produced six documentaries
with themes that had been discussed
previously in our programming, directed by experienced
and award-winning filmmakers like Jorge
Bodanzky and young talents like Andréa Pasquini
and André Finotti. In 2010, we intend to broaden
our documentary series by producing close to twenty
new films that will certainly help us shed light on
the contemporary world.
