Federico Fellini first imagined the story “Il Viaggio di Giuseppe Mastorna detto Fernet” in 1965 when he wrote the first version of the screenplay. Over the years he returned to it, developing a storyboard of the entire first part that ended up serving as the basis of a graphic novel by Milo Manara published in 1992, becoming the only realization of what should have been a film by Fellini about the other side of life.
