Five months after the earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan in March of 2011, the project “Light Up Nippon” took shape. Led by enterprising youth in Tokyo that raised money and decided through exhaustive public discussions, the project organized fireworks spectacles in 10 of the most afflicted places, aiming to create a symbol of resistance and recuperation.
