The wife of Neal Cassady and lover of Jack Kerouac, Carolyn Cassady lived her long life dealing with the dubious legacy of intimate involvement with two of the greatest icons of the beat generation. Neal left her with their son, only three months old, for a trip with Kerouac that would give origin to the book “On the Road,” of which Cassady became a character. He later came back and left other times. Trying to raise her children and at the same time dealing with her husband’s disappearances, drugs and imprisonment, Carolyn was always uncomfortable with distortions about him, detesting seeing him glorified or demonized for the wrong reasons. At 88 years old, she focuses once again about her memories.
