Since losing his sight and hearing as a child, Young-Chan has lived in a world of darkness, silence and loneliness. But this changes when he meets Soon-Hoo, a girl of small stature, whom he marries and begins to share a symbiotic life as a couple. Communicating through the touch of fingers, the two discover sensations like hugging trees, smelling fruit and sledding down steep, snowy mountains. Soon-Ho also helps him to participate in literary competitions and stage plays he writes in braille. One of her concerns when she has to be absent for a medical treatment is that Young-Chan needs to develop more independence.
