Filmmaker Paulo César Saraceni and the surviving fishermen of the footage of “Arraial do Cabo” (1959) revisit their memories of the production, seen as a founding mark of Cinema Novo. With scenes from the original film, the location is revisited in current day, contrasting social and economic realities of the two periods separated by over 50 years. The documentary shows friends and forgotten incidents, perceptions about the factory that changed with time (the installation of which Saraceni’s film documented), and the impact itself of the film on its participants.
