Since 1997, a wave of suicides among cotton planters in central India has cost the lives of 25,000 people. The tragedy is connected to the default of farmers after adopting genetically modified seeds produced by the multinational Monsanto. Contrary to what was guaranteed by the producers, their costs have multiplied from the greater demand for pesticides and water for their plantations in a chronically arid region. Daughter of one of the dead producers, Manjusha Amberwar tries to become a journalist and bring attention to the problem.
