Since the age of 15, Masha Krokova has been a member of Nashi, a support movement for Russian leader Vladimir Putin, capable of mobilizing thousands of people in the streets and confronting opponents who they consider “enemies of Russia.” Beautiful, articulate and enthusiastic, Masha quickly becomes a protégé of the Minister of Youth, even meeting Putin himself. When Masha loses an internal election to a candidate who preaches a more aggressive fight against Putin’s opposition, she begins to question her role in the organization. Participating in a debate with the dissident journalist and blogger Oleg Kashin, she comes in contact with other ideas. An incident with Kashin causes a moral dilemma.
