COMPLETING 60 YEARS OF ACTIVITY, BNDES reaffirms
its compromise to Brazilian cultural production and continues
to support a series of projects capable of associating
culture and development.
An important segment for the strengthening of the economy
of culture, the cinematic sector stands out for building
a chain of production capable of generating work and
income, as well as its importance in constructing a symbolic
heritage of the Brazilian people.
In the case of documentary cinema, the contribution of
the genre to the understanding of the time in which we
live as well as the challenges encountered by contemporary
society is notable.
For this reason, BNDES once again sponsors It's All True
– International Documentary Film Festival – a totally free
event that takes the best documentaries to the audiences
of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Brasília.
Screening close to 80 never before seen productions
from 30 countries, the festival includes a national selection
of works from every region of Brazil, in addition to
the It's All True/BNDES Program this year.
Oriented by THE me "Cinema and Development", the program
will promote debates and film screenings about the
sociocultural reality of Brazil at Museu da República in
Rio de Janeiro and Cinemateca Brasileira in São Paulo.
With the expansion of its support to the production of
Brazilian documentaries through the annual announcement
of selection of film projects and the sponsorship of
festivals like It's All True, BNDES aims to create space for
non-fictional production and to consolidate the market
for this cinematic genre in our country.
