WINDOW TO THE CONTEMPORANEOUS
The first years of the 21st Century reinforced an aspect of
contemporary societies that had already been progressively
imposing itself since the 1990s: the centrality of culture in
social processes. To understand cultural phenomena as totally
autonomous of other production processes of material
and symbolic life is more and more unsatisfactory, be it from the point of view of building knowledge or elaborating
instruments of intervention in reality.
We at CPFL Energia understand that investing in culture allows
us to develop a critical vision of reality, to anticipate problems and confront with excellency the challenges of our
time. For this reason we created CPFL Cultura, a program that realizes its tenth consecutive season this year.
Every year we have developed a broad in-person program
with lectures, debates, artistic performances, exhibitions,
film and theater programs, in addition to realizing two
weekly television programs in partnership with TV Cultura.
Excelling by multiplicity, dialogue and differences, CPFL Cultura
aims to connect the boundaries of audiences, disciplines
and ideologies to reflect and invent the contemporaneous.
Our long partnership with It's All True Festival is an expression
of the belief in these values and the energy that documentary
cinema demonstrates to enlighten the complexity
of the world and contemporary life, which (not by chance)
is the nucleus of our actions in the area of art and culture.
The tenth season of our cultural program takes place in the
year in which CPFL Energia completes a hundred years of activity
and is included among the rare centennial private Brazilian
institutions. Through our business and social, cultural and community initiatives, we strive to integrate people, cities
and cultures, promoting the democratization of access
to culture and stimulating the development of citizenship.
Nowadays, society knows what to expect of a cultural product
with our signature as well as it knows what to expect
when it turns on a switch or plugs a device into an outlet.
In this year of double celebration for us at CPFL Energia, it is
with great satisfaction that, once again, we sponsor this edition
of the festival and we continue to offer the largest Brazilian
award for stimulating documentary cinema: the CPFL
ENERGIA / IT'S ALL TRUE "Window to the Contemporaneous"
