The Darkness of Day

I am very honored to receive this prize. I want to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to the festival and to the jury. This award has added significance because 3 years ago while I was a member of the It’s All True jury myself, I received the tragic news that my wife’s sister had taken her life. Amir and the festival staff were so kind and understanding and I remember telling Amir that not only was this devastating news but also sadly ironic, since I was working on a film about suicide. So there is something strangely cyclical in my film screening at this wonderful festival and also being honored by the current jury. Life is so fragile and filled with sometimes painful and sometimes wonderful surprises.

Notes on the Other

Good Night

Although this film is a Spanish production, shot in USA and presented at the International Competition, I´m from São Paulo, Brazil. For this reason,I´m specially glad to receive this Honorable Mention in São Paulo and even more, at the It´s All True, a festival that I care a lot. The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers

I want to thank the It´s All True jury and the All True audience for its appreciation of our film. We have said all along that while this is a very North American story, its themes are universal. One thing we discovered as we uncovered the story of Daniel Ellsberg and Pentagon Papers is that courage is contagious. May you all live according to your conscience and dare to be dangerous.
