Graça Castanheira
A Portuguese documentary filmmaker, Castanheira was born in Angola in 1962. She is professor of Documentary Cinema at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema and Restart - Escola de Criatividade e Novas Tecnologias. She began her career as a filmmaker in 1997 with "Céu Aberto" and has made 13 films, including "Dois Mundos" (1999), "Outubro" (2001), "Logo Existo" (2006), "Schubertiade" (2007). "Angst" (2010), her most recent film, has been invited to the 2011 State of the Things Program.


Maziar Bahari
Iranian-Canadian filmmaker and reporter. Special correspondent for Iran at Newsweek magazine, Bahari directed more than ten films, including "Football, Iranian Style" and "And Along Came a Spider". Arrested for 118 days just after 2009 presidential elections in Iran, he is preparing to release next June his memoirs of the jail, "Then They Came For Me", by Random House. His most recent docs, "The Fall of the Shah"and "An Iranian Odissey", are among this year's special programmes.


Sean Farnel
Farnel is program director of Hot Docs, the largest documentary festival of North America held each year in Toronto. He studied cinema at Concordia University and began his career as programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival, beginning his post at Hot Docs in 2005.
